Lindsey Stirling, dancing violinist Lindsey Stirling, is known for mixing many musical styles into her performances. Here are some facts about one of the most well-known performers from America’s Got Talent. Lindsey was born in Santa Ana, California on the 21st of September 1986. Her parents are Stephen and Diane Stirling, and she has four siblings.

She became popular after reaching the quarterfinals in Season 5 of America’s Got Talent in 2010. These days she has acquired massive popularity on her YouTube channel, which is going strong towards 14 million subscribers.

She has more than 4 billion views on her YouTube channel. She combines rock, hip-hop, dubstep, electronic and more. She captivates the audience with her beautiful music videos. She has also gone to Kenya to film a music video where she played violin to the children there who had never seen such an instrument.

Talking about her past, she has made it public that they didn’t have a lot of money growing up. Still, she had a memorable childhood and wouldn’t swap it for anything. It’s seen that her parents did all they could for her and her siblings. She also revealed that she couldn’t afford to pay for full lessons, good grace, Lindsey learned to play the violin with just twelve minutes of lessons per week.

By the time she was in high school, her family had moved to Arizona. She attended Greenfield Junior High before graduating and moving to Mesquite High School. Even back then, she had a band which was called Stomp on Melvin. That was the time she wrote a violin rock song which she used to win the Junior Miss competition which is held in Arizona.

She was also into dancing but her family condition didn’t play in her favor. She continued her journey but after some time she was bored with the traditional music. That’s when she incorporated different other genres like dubstep and rock music into her songs.

The 36-year-old Lindsey Stirling rose to fame in 2010 after competing through to the quarterfinals of Season 5 of America’s Got Talent. After adding an emo and grunge flair to her performance of Flo Rida’s hit song “Right Round,” during her AGT audition, Stirling received the nickname “Hip Hop Violinist.” She was eliminated shortly, and Lindsey returned to YouTube and collaborated with many famous artists, including John Legend.

 

After AGT, Stirling’s fame only increased, particularly following the 2011 release of “Spontaneous Me,” which coincidentally paved the way for a number of high-profile collaborations with notable artists including John Legend, The Piano Guys, and Amy Lee of Evanescence.

Two years after its release, Stirling’s self-titled album’s 2012 dubstep smash “Crystallize,” which topped the Billboard Classical Albums chart for 21 weeks, received a gold certification.

She has also been touring in recent years. She toured annually from 2012 till 2020. She stopped because of COVID-19 as it stopped worldwide travel. She began touring shortly in 2021. She also co-wrote a book with her sister Brooke and launched  The Upside Fund, a non-profit organization to help individuals during the pandemic.
