In 2015 Florida, at Sunfest, the audience witnessed an unexpected duo for an Adele song, and let us tell you, the performance was mesmerizing. Keith Urban invited Lauren Spencer Smith, the American Idol contestant to perform a duet in “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele.
Keith Urban explains to the audience that he holds a competition where he tries to pick someone and invite them to the stage to sing alongside him. “We normally run a competition and we find somebody to come up and sing,” he said.
He continued, “Particularly this next girl she’s got an amazing voice, and she’s only eleven and I just wanted to sing with her so bad.”
Then Lauren walks onto the stage gives a little intro about herself and absolutely smashes the performance. Her performance was just flawless and the crowd went wild as he hit those first notes. Can you believe that she’s only eleven years old?
Born in Portsmouth, England, on September 23, Lauren Spencer Smith blessed us with her performance. It was as if Adele was with us that night. Lauren moved to Canada with her parents and brother when she was only three, and that’s when she started to fall in love with music.
Lauren stayed in Vancouver Island and she did her first YouTube channel when she was only eleven. Her YouTube channel didn’t take off in pace, but if we take a peek at her account today, she has over 1.16 million subscribers.
Lauren started with doing covers like “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi. She then slowly started to write original songs and post them on her channel.
She released two albums Unplugged Volume 1 (which was nominated for a Juno award) and Volume 2 in 2019. She then made her appearance on American Idol in 2020 which ultimately grew her fame and people from all over the globe started to notice her.
She finally started to get fame in the mainstream of music when she released her single “Fingers Crossed” in 2022. The results were just mind-blowing. It was placed at No. 1 in Norway and Oreland and No. 3 in the United Kingdom and No. 8 in Canada.
She released this single herself, and no promotion was done which shows how talented Lauren is. We wish the best for Lauren as she moves forward and keeps producing music.
