Gwen Stefani Wows Fans Singing “Don’t Speak” With Husband Blake Shelton

Gwen Stefani took every fan of her husband Blake Shelton by surprise by performing a classic “Don’t Speak” at the country star’s show. Gwen has stepped down from her music career in recent years, but watching her sing, she still has it.

The original version of the song “Don’t Speak” is an alternative rock ballad, but being a Blake Shelton show, they had to give it a small twist of a country song. The song, despite being three decades old, delivers passion into our hearts. Partly, because Stefani also sings it in a great way. Be sure to watch the video down below.

Shelton lets his wife Stefani do the vocals, despite being his show. He laid back and played an acoustic guitar which gave the audience a great show. As always, both of them made the audience cheer for them, louder than ever.

Both of them have collaborated before on the song “Nobody but You” as a duet for the country singers’ 2019 compilation album Fully Loaded: God’s Country. He has also commented that he was surprised by his wife’s work in the studio. He said, “She’s not willing to take anything less than greatness and she’s willing to put in the work. I don’t think Gwen knows how great of a vocalist she really is.” Check them out down below.

The song “Don’t Speak” is actually an interesting choice, as this was written by Gwen in response to her first love Tony Kanal breaking up with her. But the good thing is that the traumatic breakup was the catalyst for her growth as a songwriter. In an interview with Guardian, she said, “I just sang in my brother’s band. But after the breakup, I just started writing all these songs and suddenly I was: ‘Oh I think I’m really good at this!'”

“Don’t Speak” was the third single from No Doubt’s thrid studio album Tragic Kingdom, which had several tracks that addressed Gwen’s breakup with Kanal. The pair were still in that phase when they were promoting the album. Kanal told the Guardian, “In every interview, we were talking about it so we were opening this wound on an hourly basis. It was so brutal but I don’t know how we made it through.

The song was a huge success for No Doubt, and became their biggest single internationally. It was also number one in the UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. It became a fan favorite from No Doubt.
