Jimmy Page has a lengthy history in entertainment; as a teenager, he participated in a BBC talent contest. When asked what he wanted to do when he grew up, a young Jimmy Page said he wanted to be a scientist and find a cure for cancer instead of being a musician.
Although Page did not discover a cancer cure, he did alter the course of rock & roll history.
He called the 1957 TV performance “very embarrassing.” He said, “When you’ve had a whole lifetime full of music, there are certain things that sort of come up and haunt you, and that is one of them… but it’s got a charm about it.”
As the guitarist and founding member of the rock band Led Zeppelin, James Patrick Page OBE (born 9 January 1944) is an English musician, songwriter, and record producer who enjoyed widespread success.
Page started out as a studio session musician in London, and by the middle of the 1960s, he was one of the most in-demand session guitarists in Britain, along with Big Jim Sullivan. From 1966 until 1968, he was a member of the Yardbirds. He started Led Zeppelin at the end of 1968.
Most people agree that Page is among the best and most influential guitarists of all time. Page was dubbed “the pontiff of power riffing” by Rolling Stone magazine, which also listed him as the third-greatest guitarist of all time.
