The Black Crowes announce new album ‘A Pound of Feathers’

The Black Crowes are ready to excite fans once again with their upcoming album, A Pound of Feathers. Known for their strong mix of blues, soul, and rock music, the legendary band promises that this new record will take their classic sound in a bold new direction. According to a recent press release, the album is set to “push their iconic blend of blues, soul and rock into electrifying new terrain,” and early signs show they are doing exactly that.

One of the most interesting things about this album is how quickly it was made. Lead singer and frontman Chris Robinson revealed that the band recorded the entire album in just eight to ten days. In today’s music world, where albums can take months or even years to complete, this fast and focused approach stands out. Chris explained that the energy from their previous album, Happiness Bastards, carried naturally into this project. The band relied on instinct, emotion, and creativity in the moment rather than overthinking the process.

Chris also praised his brother and bandmate Rich Robinson, saying that Rich brought a level of spontaneity to the album that made it special. He described the performances as raw, inspired, and some of the best work Rich has ever done. This sense of freedom and experimentation seems to be at the heart of A Pound of Feathers.

Rich Robinson shared similar feelings about the album. He described it as “transformative” for the band and said it helped them reconnect with their roots. By working together closely in the studio, the brothers rediscovered the creative spark that made The Black Crowes so powerful in the first place. While the album is said to sound harder and more jagged at times, it still stays true to the band’s musical identity.

The excitement around this release comes after a successful few years for the band. Their last album, Happiness Bastards, was released in 2024 and received strong praise. It was even nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Although the award ultimately went to The Rolling Stones for Hackney Diamonds, the nomination proved that The Black Crowes remain a respected force in rock music.

Fans have already gotten a taste of what’s coming next. The album opens with the track “Profane Prophecy,” which features fun, funky lyrics and confident energy. The song includes the memorable line:
“My pedigree and debauchery is my claim to fame / the profane prophecy has got me in its sweet embrace.”
Another track, “Pharmacy Chronicles,” has also been released and is available to stream now. Both songs show the band blending classic rock swagger with fresh ideas.
