Legendary musician Peter Gabriel is back with a new album called O/I, following the unique style he used for his 2023 album i/o. Just like last time, Gabriel will release a new song every full moon, with the full album arriving by the end of the year.
Gabriel shared in a statement:
“I’m delighted to say that tonight, at the full moon, we will be beginning another year of full moon releases under the name O/I.”
A Unique Way to Release Music
Instead of dropping the whole album at once, Gabriel is spreading out the songs over the year. This gives fans a chance to enjoy each track individually and really take it in. The first single, “Been Undone,” was already released, recorded at Real World Studios in Bath and The Beehive in London.
What Makes O/I Special
Gabriel says this album explores his thoughts and feelings about the future. He mentioned ideas like AI, quantum computing, and brain-computer interfaces, showing how artists can reflect on big changes happening in the world.
He also explained the difference between i/o and O/I:
“i/o: the inside has a new way out
O/I: the outside has a new way in.”
In short, O/I is more about the outside world, connection, and happiness, while i/o focused on the inner self.
Art for Every Song
Just like i/o, each song on O/I will have its own artwork by Janaina Mello Landini, a São Paulo–based artist. Gabriel said he’s thrilled to include visual art as part of the music experience.
Why Fans Should Be Excited
Peter Gabriel isn’t just releasing songs; he’s creating a unique musical journey. By releasing music on full moons and pairing songs with art, he’s giving fans something special to look forward to all year. Some songs are deeply personal, while others are just fun and happy — there’s something for everyone.
The full album’s details will be revealed soon, but if O/I follows the same path as i/o, fans can expect an innovative, thoughtful, and memorable music experience.
Stay tuned for every full moon release and enjoy the journey with Peter Gabriel!
