The legendary Britpop band Oasis is once again making headlines after being nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026. While many artists celebrate such nominations, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher reacted in a very different way. Instead of asking fans to vote, he sarcastically thanked the people who didn’t vote for the band.
Oasis Nominated Again
On February 25, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame revealed its nominees for the 2026 induction class. The list includes many famous artists from different genres such as Phil Collins, Pink, Shakira, Mariah Carey, and Jeff Buckley. Oasis is also one of the 17 artists competing for induction this year.
This is not the first time Oasis has been nominated. The band has appeared on the ballot multiple times in recent years but has not yet been inducted. Many fans believe the group deserves a place in the Hall because of their massive influence on 1990s rock music and the Britpop movement.
Oasis became one of the biggest bands in the world during the 1990s with classic albums and songs like Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger, and Champagne Supernova. Their music helped define an entire era of British rock.
Oasis Falling Behind in the Fan Vote
Part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame selection process includes a public fan vote. Fans can vote online for the artists they want to see inducted.
However, the latest leaderboard shared online showed Oasis near the bottom of the list. The band is currently around 14th place out of the 17 nominees. Meanwhile, Phil Collins is leading the fan vote with more than 300,000 votes, followed by New Edition and Pink.
At the bottom of the rankings is Jeff Buckley with around 73,000 votes.
Although the fan vote is only one part of the overall selection process, it still plays a role in the final decision. Because of their current position, Oasis may once again miss out on being inducted this year.
Liam Gallagher’s Funny Response
When the leaderboard was posted on X (formerly Twitter) by an Oasis fan account, Liam Gallagher noticed it and replied with a sarcastic message.
He wrote:
“I’d like to thank all the people who HAVENT voted for us from the bottom of my HEART this is for you thanks.”
The comment quickly spread online and became another classic Liam Gallagher moment. Known for his blunt and humorous personality, the singer has never been shy about speaking his mind.
In fact, this is not the first time Gallagher has criticized the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Gallagher Has Never Been a Fan of the Rock Hall
For years, Liam Gallagher has openly said that he does not care about the Hall of Fame. When Oasis was nominated in previous years, he even told fans not to waste their time voting.
He has often joked that the institution does not represent real rock and roll. In past interviews and social media posts, he criticized the organization and suggested that awards and museums do not define true rock music.
Because of these comments, many fans are not surprised by his reaction this year.
What Happens Next?
Voting for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will continue until next month. After the voting ends, the final inductees will be announced. Usually, only a small number of nominees are selected each year.
Whether Oasis makes it into the Hall or not, their legacy in rock music is already secure. The band remains one of the most influential British rock acts of the past three decades.
And if Liam Gallagher’s reaction is anything to go by, it seems he is perfectly fine with Oasis staying outside the Rock Hall—especially if fans keep not voting.
