Detroit is getting ready for a huge hometown moment this Thanksgiving. The Detroit Lions have announced that rock legend Jack White will perform during halftime of their Thanksgiving Day Classic on Thursday, November 27, 2025, when they face the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field.
This year’s halftime show is powered by Verizon, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most “Detroit” performances the Lions have had in years.
A True Detroit Icon Returns Home
Jack White, born and raised in Detroit, has always been a major part of the city’s music history. He first became a global star with The White Stripes, known for hits like “Seven Nation Army.”
After that, he went on to form successful bands such as The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, proving that he’s one of rock’s most creative and innovative artists.
This performance is especially meaningful because The White Stripes were just inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 8, 2025. So Jack White returning to perform in Detroit so soon afterward feels like a full-circle celebration of his journey.
Before kickoff, another Detroit legend—CeCe Winans, one of the greatest gospel singers of all time—will sing the national anthem.
More Than Just Music
This halftime show also supports an important cause. The Lions are teaming up with Feeding America to encourage donations so families can share meals during the holiday season.
During the game, fans can donate, and before kickoff, Verizon will host a food-relief kit-packing event outside Ford Field. It gives fans a way to help people in need while celebrating the holiday.
Behind the scenes, the production is being led by Detroit’s own Eminem and his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg. They’ll be producing the Lions’ Thanksgiving halftime shows through 2027, bringing even more local talent and creativity to the event.
What Fans Can Expect
Fans are excited, calling this the most Detroit-style halftime show in years. People are already guessing what Jack White will play—whether he’ll go with classics like “Seven Nation Army,” bring out a surprise guest, or maybe play something unexpected.
No matter what he chooses, one thing is certain: the energy and hometown pride will be electric.
