Tom Jones warns fans about fake social media accounts impersonating him: “Report and block them”

Legendary singer Sir Tom Jones has issued an important warning to his fans after discovering that many fake social media accounts are pretending to be him and his team. These fake profiles are being used by scammers to trick people, steal money, and take advantage of fans’ trust.

The warning was shared on January 9th through Sir Tom Jones’ official and verified social media pages. His management team explained that scammers are creating fake accounts using his name, photos, and reputation. These accounts then try to privately message fans, often pretending to build a personal connection before asking for money or personal information.

In the official statement, Sir Tom’s team made one thing very clear: Sir Tom Jones does not personally message fans on social media. If someone claiming to be him tries to start a private conversation, it is not real. Fans were strongly advised to report and block any such accounts immediately.

The message also expressed sadness about the situation, explaining that these scammers often target vulnerable people, including the elderly. Many victims are longtime fans who genuinely believe they are speaking to the singer himself. Sadly, this has already led to serious financial losses.

In one reported case from 2024, a woman in her 90s from the New Forest was tricked into sending £13,000 to a scammer who was pretending to be Sir Tom Jones. Another man in his 60s from the same area was also targeted in a similar scam involving a fake account impersonating Celine Dion. These incidents show how convincing and dangerous online scams can be.

This is not the first time Sir Tom Jones has spoken out about this issue. In 2024, he shared a similar warning, reminding fans that he only uses his verified accounts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and TikTok. Verified accounts usually have a blue checkmark, which helps confirm that the profile is genuine.

Unfortunately, as social media continues to grow, so do online scams. Scammers often use famous names because they know people trust and admire celebrities. Once they gain that trust, they may ask for money, gift cards, or private details. That’s why it’s important for everyone to stay alert and cautious online.

Despite these challenges, Sir Tom Jones continues to focus on his music and live performances. His last album, “Surrounded By Time,” was released in 2021 and was a huge success. It reached number one on the UK charts, making him the oldest male solo artist to ever achieve this milestone at the age of 80.

Since then, Sir Tom has continued to tour regularly and remains a strong presence on stage. He performed headline shows at Cardiff Castle in August and is set to return to live performances again this summer. He will headline CarFest at Silverstone in June, sharing the stage with artists like Nile Rodgers & Chic, Rick Astley, and Jessie J.

Sir Tom Jones’ message is simple but important: stay safe online. Always double-check profiles, never send money to someone you don’t personally know, and remember that real celebrities do not randomly message fans asking for help or money.
