Did you know there might be a hidden duet between Ozzy Osbourne and Madonna? It’s a surprising music-world secret.
What Happened
Back in 1983, the band Was (Not Was) recorded a song called “Shake Your Head (Let’s Go to Bed).”
They invited young Madonna to sing on it — before she became super famous.
Ozzy Osbourne also recorded vocals for the same song.
But when it was time to release, Madonna declined to let them use her singing.
The Version We Know
Instead of Madonna, actress Kim Basinger was brought in to sing.
A new version was released in 1992 on a Was (Not Was) compilation album “Hello Dad… I’m in Jail”.
That version became quite successful and even reached No. 4 in the UK charts.
But Wait — the Hidden Duet
Years later, the band realized they still had the original vocal tracks: both Ozzy’s and Madonna’s.
They gave the recordings to a remixer (Steve “Silk” Hurley), who made a version where Ozzy and Madonna sing together.
Despite this, Madonna never allowed the remix to be officially released.
Still, some versions leaked or appeared on limited formats, so parts of that duet are out there in the wild.
Why It’s Interesting
It’s a rare chance to hear early Madonna and a rock legend like Ozzy in the same song.
The story shows how music can stay “lost” because of label issues and permission problems.
For fans, it’s a cool “what could have been” moment in pop and rock history.
